What happens to the stumps and all the debris?
Depends on the job. Mulching leaves chips on the ground, so there is nothing to haul. On a full clear we pile the debris and handle it however we agree on before work starts. You will know the plan, and the cost of it, up front.
Stumps
On a mulching job the stumps get ground down close to the ground and stay put. On a full clear they come out, roots and all, because anything you build over them will settle when the wood rots. Pulling stumps is one of the bigger pieces of a clearing job, so the quote says which one you are getting.
Debris
There are a few ways it can go, and we pick one before I start:
- Mulched in place. Chips stay as ground cover. Cheapest, nothing leaves the property.
- Piled on site. I stack it where you want it and you deal with it on your own schedule.
- Burned on site, where it is allowed and safe. That depends on the county and the season, and I will tell you what I know for your spot.
- Hauled off. Every load costs money, so I count it into the quote instead of billing loads after.
Usable wood
If there are logs worth keeping for firewood or a mill, tell me on the walk. I can set them aside instead of putting them in the pile. Most of what comes off a typical lot is not worth much as timber, and I will not pretend otherwise, but it is your wood.
